Digital Catalog (!)
Likely Twitter – although, who knows what else will arise in 2012!
twitter!!!
Both. Catalogue provides the comforting authentication needed to make people see your product as both important and real and then twitter helps to humanize the process. Its(Twiiter) real time response capability allows you to soft market for free to people who choose to follow you. The right company or power player retweeting you also adds validity and gives the word of mouth effect to your marketing effort. Also many non celeb types are still taste makers in their individual social circle. Twitter engages that user, but catalogue has the user seeing you as important and worthy of the retweet or the follow. Using myself as an example, only by being able to see Luxury Interactive in a true light of validation initially led me to follow on twitter, to retweet, and then led me here to post on this article. I now have an experience engaged by participation as well as exposure, but the action was created through visible validation in the arena of expertise, which is implied by the company site and the conference hosting.
Great comments everyone! Interesting to see how this “contest” is shaping up. Looks like Twitter has the lead, though we still realize the importance of catalogs in some way. Keep the comments coming guys!
Twitter: @forever_free00. What a wonderful way to get people talking and excited about the various opportunities to grow business.
Thanks! We have a winner to announce shortly…

Catalog.
Twitter because having access to information in “real time” or exactly as it comes out is so crucial and will be even more so with rapidly growing businesses!

Twitter – or maybe a virtual catalogue that encompasses all the best tweets from the event?
Hmmm – very interesting concept – I like it! Keep the comments coming folks!
Hi, as requested my Twitter name is @caroline_rolfe
Just realised my comment doesn’t really make sense – I meant with regards to the Lux Interactive event a twitter feed and virtual catalogue would be good. For general marketing strategy Twitter is more important for customer engagement and brand building – catalogue is more important for showcasing our lovely products all in one place.
A) Twitter
the virtual catalog is a great idea but i don’t think it should contain only the “best” tweets. How about every tweet which is categorized respectively?
@amb26
A) Twitter
What’s the definition of “catalog” in this case? If it means a print or digital catalog of products.. well… there is no beating that. However, most retailers already have that down. So… Twitter will likely be a more important focus for 2012.
digital catalog/brand website.
twitter, hands down.
catalogs are for the recycling bin or the bathroom mag rack. no purchasing happening in either place.
i’m on twitter on and off all day long.
Depends on the demographic of the luxury consumer … an older consumer might prefer the richness of the look and feel of a beautiful catalogue, while a younger consumer might more likely respond to a more high tech approach to marketing, like twitter.
Twitter: It is the number one on the social media scale. You hit more viewers and potentional clients faster as well as get feedback instantly from your clients.
Thanks for all the comments during our contest! A winner will be announced soon, but more importantly it looks like we’ve got a good discussion going. Twitter seems to be taking the lead as a top focus for 2012 marketing plans, not because catalog is unimportant, but simply because there’s still so much for luxury retailers to learn about it. Looking forward to seeing where this all goes!
A combination of both a catalogue and twitter.
Twitter, it’s the human element that my clients look for. Love learning about all of the new developments in the luxury markets!
I think twitter is so appealing because it is simple and straightforward. You don’t have to go searching for information and the news in instantaneous.
